Introduction to the Mushrooms of Whatcom County In-Person
Are you interested in the Mycology of Whatcom County? Dr. Fred Rhoades will present on mushrooms that can be found in our area. Bring any mushrooms for identification at the end of the program!
Dr. Fred Rhoades did graduate studies in both mycology and lichenology at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon in the 1970s, looking at the inhabitants of old-growth Douglas fir canopies. From 1977 to 2009, Fred was an instructor of biology at Western Washington University until retiring. He currently lives in Bellingham and enjoys gardening, nature photography and introducing people to the “lower” forms of life.
