When he was in his early 30s, a medical scare prompted Jake Beaty’s father to trade his comfortable suburban life in western Washington with his wife and children for challenge and risk, living off-grid in a cabin in the woods. Beaty will inspire you to pursue your dreams and live without regrets as he shares from his inspiring and entertaining book.

Book Description: Since boyhood, Jim Beaty dreamed of building a log cabin in the woods. If only it were that easy. Now, in his early thirties, he's living a comfortable suburban life in Western Washington, has a wife and two kids, a decent job, a Toyota Land Cruiser. It's alarming how a good life can dull the urge to fight for a great life. Old Pete at work never acted on his dreams, just moaned, "I wish I had." A medical scare gets Jim thinking--life is short! There's never a good time to take a big risk, and always a reason not to. "It's now or never!" Jim determines to accomplish his dreams. Supported by his wife and accompanied by his young sons, Jim trades all that is soft and safe for hardship and risk. Off-grid in the remote wilderness, peeling logs and pounding rebar, the family would face injuries, poverty, and severe winters. Would they make it? Was the reward worth the sacrifice?
