Film Screening: Secret Mind of Slime with Jane Billinghurst In-Person
Join us at the library for an evening screening of Secret Mind of Slime. Who says you need brains to be smart? Extremely primitive life-forms called slime molds can navigate mazes, choose between foods, and create efficient networks—no brain required. New research on these organisms, which are neither plant nor animal, could help reveal the fundamental rules underlying all decision making.
After the film (run time, 52 minutes), celebrated naturalist and unofficial expert on slime mold, Jane Billinghurst, will give a short presentation on the wonders of this strange and complex organism.
Jane Billinghurst is a nature lover, master gardener, editor, translator, and author of six books, including Forest Walking, which she co-wrote with Peter Wohlleben. She has translated and edited several books by Peter Wohlleben, including the New York Times bestseller The Hidden Life of Trees. She lives in Anacortes, Washington, next to 2,800 acres of community forest lands.
