Celebrate summer, music and libraries at free concerts hosted across the Whatcom County Library System. At each event, discover what’s new at local libraries and join neighbors in a joyous afternoon or evening of live music. 

The South Whatcom branch and the Friends of the South Whatcom Library invite you to join them at the Glenhaven Clubhouse (2997 Glenhaven Drive, Glenhaven, WA) with Bilongo. A Bantu word meaning spell or potion — medicine for the soul — Bilongo is a seven-piece Latin jazz group featuring vocalist Sabrina Gomez. Fall under the spell of original compositions as well as songs from Buena Vista Social Club and more. This is music that makes you want to dance.

The Whatcom Grooves Summer Concert Series is generously supported by the Whatcom County Library Foundation and Friends of the South Whatcom Library. The Jazz Center of Bellingham makes this free event possible with special thanks to Jerry Steinhilber. Financial donations to support local libraries are gratefully accepted at the concerts.

The music begins at 5:00 but the festivities begin at 4:00. Come early to enter prize drawings, browse our pop-up library and book sale, and participate in lawn games! And when Bilongo finishes their set, stay for the next musical act sponsored by Glenhaven Lakes Association.
