Serendipity: Finding Pieces in Past Works

Serendipity: Finding Pieces in Past Works

Marion Bartl has been making art for over forty years — drawing, watercolor painting and printmaking. This exhibit highlights her exploration of encaustic monotype printing. Encaustic artwork uses wax to capture design. Marion uses a multi-media process that involves drawing on a heated surface with colored wax. Paper is applied to the wax, creating the monotype print. The finished piece is then cut out and mounted. Marion describes the process as fast and fun, resulting in unique designs — each piece a serendipitous outcome.

On display in the Deming Library meeting room during open hours, August 25 through October 1. Sponsored by the Friends of the Deming Library.
