Whatcom Story Share - Part 1 of 2
Whatcom Story Share
Gather and preserve your stories with help from the library.
Do you have a story to tell about yourself or your family that you want to preserve? Do you have boxes of photos and documents that go back generations in your family that you would like to preserve in one, neat digital package? The library has resources that can help you with your personal history project and we can get you started in this two-part series.
Part I: How to Effectively Gather Stories Through Conversation
Neil McKay/Mary Vermillion of the Whatcom County Library System will guide you through conducting and recording an interview with a series of prompts. You'll leave with a list of prompts, tools, and inspiration to go forth and gather stories. But don't stop there! Check out Part II of the series.
Part II: How to Record and Preserve Your Stories
In Part II of Whatcom Story Share, we'll show you how to use a variety of library resources for scanning documents and photos, and ways to digitize video recordings from VHS, film and other bygone formats. The library has all the tools you need to gather your stories into one, neat digital package that can be shared with your loved ones and preserved for eternity.
