Writing Poetry with Punch: Writing Workshop with Matthew Brouwer

Writing Poetry with Punch: Writing Workshop with Matthew Brouwer In-Person

At times, we all encounter poetry that cuts through. Something about it speaks to you, moves you, penetrates you. It could be for just one particular moment, or it could be a poem that you carry with you for years, that defines and captures some deeper part of you.

In this writing workshop, we'll look at what makes knockout poetry, and how you can write poems that stand out from the rest. Focusing on five practical elements that underpin compelling and evocative poetic writing, Matthew will help you write (and read) poetry in a way that adds a punch to it so that your words can create impactful moments of meaning and presence for your audience. Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite poem that speaks to them, and the workshop will provide ample time for writing and sharing your work. Space is limited; please register for this event to save your spot.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Deming Library.
