Family’s Legacy! Art Class: Antiqued Mixed-Media Painting with Ms. Rachel Simpson In-Person
Join us at the Allied Arts Thrift Store space for another great event in our Whatcom READS series. Create a work of art that you can enter in the Whatcom READS Art Challenge!
In this exciting art class, students will get to learn from art teacher Ms. Rachel Simpson, a wide variety of art techniques, materials, tricks, and textures of mixedmedia acrylics onto canvas. You'll get to make a painting of your own, in a style of antiquing, that’s about your family’s legacy. This artwork will be layered with acrylic paints, mediums, adhesives, metallic paints, found objects, and have the option of bringing your own old photograph and objects to incorporate into your artwork (the photo will be set into the painting with adhesives).
Students can be prepared by bringing in at least 1 old photograph (perhaps of yourself, your family, or a family member), and some small found objects that you’d like to include in your piece of art, such as: old charms, jewelry pieces, shells, semi-precious stones/rocks, beads, keys, lace, fabric samples, pressed flowers, small toys, or old clippings from magazines. Be sure to Dress-for-Mess!
Art Supplies are included.
